Quick installation process, more bass in car audio systems

The purpose of a subwoofer is to add some bass to the audio that is played in the stereo. An already existing factory stereo can be made to play powerful music by adding subwoofer to it. By following these guidelines on how to install a subwoofer in a factory stereo, the installation can be done with little or no help from a professional.

Mechanical crimping tool has one draw back of difficulty in handling as it cannot deal with thick or rigid kind of wires. This dis advantage can be over come by using a electrical crimping tool. But using this tool without proper knowledge about its handling and operations may lead to disasters to the person handling it. Anything which is connected to electricity must be handled with care. The major things required for the usage is electrical tapes, crimping tool, crimp connectors and wires of course.

The battery of the car is disconnected till the installation is done. The negative terminal cable is removed from the terminal. A screwdriver or an appropriate wrench can be used to loosen it. A ring terminal is attached between the power cable and positive terminal of the battery. The cable for power supply is routed between the compartment where engine is kept and the vehicle's inner cabin. There is generally an aperture for the wire but if there is no such facility a hole can be drilled and use a grommet for protection.

The stereo is then removed out of the dash. This is different for each vehicle and can be done using a manual of the car. After the stereo is removed, the wiring of the stereo is disconnected. The wiring can be either single or many attached together. The stereo is then connected to the harness adapter from the vehicle. The harness has markings that show how the connections have to be made.

Next step is the most important one. It is the installation of line out converter. It is also called as LOC. Locate the factory speakers. This is found inside the car trunk. Many wires are connected to the speakers . Now with cutting pliers disconnect one of these wires. However ensure that there is provision for reconnection of this wire. The line out converter is now fixed to the wiring . Next step is reconnection to that speaker (6x9) .

The subwoofer is then placed in the vehicle's trunk. The sub is then grounded by connecting the corresponding wire to some bolt of the car. This can be done by lifting a part of the carpet for a bolt. The cable for signal, power supply and the lead for turn-on are connected.

There is one optional thing which can be done that is provide proper insulation by wrapping the connections fully with an electrical tape. This is for providing a safer working and handling environment. Before cutting the wire just leave some more extra wire to use it when a proper crimp is not done. The wire ends are to be handled properly or else the ends may cause holes or it may hurt your finger.

We have learnt How to Install a Sub woofer in a Factory Stereo and now its time to try installing on our own
